Watch out for your wine! It has fish, eggs and dairy in it!!!
I made casserole with home-made organic chicken stock, organic beef and vegetables and after eating a couple of bites, my son Alex started complaining. Not unusual you say for a 7y/o and casserole.
However, when he started getting a rash around the mouth and neck, and hives all over his body I started to wonder what was going on.
After a slight panic and giving medication and a shower and lots of calming him down, I thought about what had happened. What could have caused this allergic reaction? Not my wonderful organic meal?
No - it was the glass of red wine I had added for flavour. Unbeknownst to me, dairy, eggs and fish are used in the production of the wine and traces may remain. WHAT????????
Long gone are the days when food is what you think it is. These items are added as “flocking or fining agents”. All the tannins and sediment flock to these, which then settle at the bottom and can be removed leaving “traces”. All I can say is that we were lucky it did not move on to anaphylaxis, and that I do not believe it was only traces in that bottle.

Cattle and livestock producers who have eliminated antibiotics may be using other bacteria-killing compounds in the anti-microbial family, which have a murky definition under the law.
